Vocademica is committed to the highest standards of academic integrity, editorial independence, and transparent publication practice. The following policies govern all submissions, editorial decisions, and publication processes across both journal volumes.
Editorial Independence Statement
Vocademica operates as an editorially independent publication. All decisions regarding manuscript acceptance, rejection, and revision are made solely on the basis of scholarly merit, originality, methodological rigour, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Editorial decisions are not influenced by:
- The institutional affiliation, nationality, or seniority of authors
- Commercial relationships, advertising, or sponsorship arrangements
- Any manuscript development, editorial consulting, or support services engaged by authors prior to submission
- The identity of peer reviewers or their institutional affiliations
Authors who have engaged external editorial or manuscript development support prior to submission are required to disclose this in their cover letter. Such disclosure does not influence editorial decisions and is recorded solely for transparency purposes.
The Editor-in-Chief bears sole responsibility for final publication decisions and is not subject to direction from any commercial, institutional, or third-party entity.
Generative AI Policy
Vocademica recognises that generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools are increasingly used in academic research and writing workflows. The following policy governs the use of such tools in manuscripts submitted to all Vocademica volumes.
Authorship
Generative AI tools — including but not limited to large language models, text generation systems, and AI-assisted writing platforms — may not be listed as authors or co-authors of any manuscript. Authorship requires the capacity to take accountability for the work, which AI systems cannot fulfill. All named authors must be human individuals who meet standard authorship criteria.
Permitted Use
Authors may use GenAI tools for the following purposes, provided this use is disclosed:
- Grammar checking, language refinement, and readability improvement
- Literature search assistance and reference organisation
- Summarisation of source material for the author’s own review
- Formatting and structural editing of author-generated content
Prohibited Use
The following uses of GenAI tools are not permitted:
- Generation of original research findings, data, or analysis
- Fabrication or synthesis of citations, references, or source material
- Wholesale drafting of manuscript sections without substantial author input and revision
- Any use that misrepresents the nature or origin of the submitted work
Disclosure Requirement
Authors who have used GenAI tools in any part of their manuscript preparation must include a brief disclosure statement in their submission. This statement should describe the tools used and the nature of their use. Suggested format:
“The authors used [tool name] for [specific purpose, e.g. language editing of the final draft]. All research, analysis, and intellectual content was generated by the authors.”
Failure to disclose GenAI use where it has occurred will be treated as a breach of publication ethics and may result in rejection or retraction.
Peer Review Policy
Vocademica operates a single-blind peer review process. Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors. All reviewers are selected on the basis of domain expertise and declared free of conflicts of interest with respect to the submitted work.
Review decisions are: Accept · Minor Revision · Major Revision · Reject. Authors receive written feedback in all cases. Typical review turnaround is 30–45 days from submission acknowledgement.
Plagiarism Policy
All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism prior to peer review. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding acceptable thresholds will be returned to authors without review. Self-plagiarism — including redundant publication of previously published work — is treated with equal seriousness.
These policies are reviewed annually and updated as publication standards evolve. Last reviewed: June 2026.
